A New Gallery Now Handling My Work!

And a happy springtime to you all! I met with an outstanding gallery in Atlanta this week to present some of my paintings. Thomas Deans Fine Art accepted three of the five works they requested to see! Very excited! There are no shows at the moment that will include my art, but they were excited about all the pieces and said that they have several clients that want the type of landscapes I do. If you get a chance, check out Thomas Deans Fine Art in Buckhead – 690 Miami Circle, Atlanta.

I have another meeting with a local gallery that’s doing a great job in Marietta – Muses & Company Fine Art. They want to see as many works as I can load up and get to their gallery. I don’t know where this will go but am encouraged that they have an interest.

That’s it for now!

Thanks for viewing philturnerart.com!

I have emerged on the blog, finally! Welcome to my recently updated website, a labor of love by a very gifted young woman I’m close to. I hope to be able to add future blog posts with much more regularity.

So why the long silence with the website? Good question. Basically, I’ve been working for a couple of years now learning how to paint. That may sound like false modesty but it’s the truth. When I started painting full time about six years back, I thought it was a “rolling off a log” situation. I can paint. I have some talent. So what’s there to fear? Well, the problem was I had little understanding of the technical skills needed to effectively use the various mediums. In addition, I needed many hours to develop the intuitive responses to the paints and the surfaces. This takes time.

Today I’m pleased to say that I’m producing paintings that are credible and display an ability to handle paint and come up with interesting compositions. I’m not completely there yet and am still learning with each painting, but I feel like I’ve reached a point where I need to get out there and let people see the work.

I’m thinking that this is enough for one post so I’ll sign off. Please look for more posts in the near future.

Bless you readers one and all!

SOUTHWORKS Show in April

I’ve had a painting accepted for the SOUTHWORKS 2017 Juried Art Exhibition! This is a national show held by OCAF (Oconee Cultural Arts Foundation) located near Athens in Watkinsville, Georgia. I was excited to be accepted in that this is a very well respected show that draws entries on a national level. The show opens with a reception on April 7th, 6-9:00 pm. If you’re in the area and would like to see an excellent display of artwork, come on over! The show runs from April 7th – May 5th, 2017. Check out the exhibit at info@ocaf.com.
